Economy and Infrastructure
The economy of Champlains, like the entire region, was determined by agricultural use from the beginning of colonization. That's still like that. A service hub with an above-average number of craft and transport shops has developed in Champlain Village. In the other main settlement, Rouses Point, there is a plant for the pharmaceutical company Pfizer and a plastics factory. Several sports boat harbors determine the range of leisure activities in the area.
traffic
At Village Rouses Point there is a train station on the route from New York City to Montreal , which is served by Amtrak trains. West of Champlain Village, Interstate 87 (Adirondack Northway) connects the town towards Plattsburgh in the south and Montreal in the north. The US Highway 2 runs through the route of the former railway bridge parallel to the Canadian border across the lake to Alburgh and the commercial center of Burlington in the neighboring state of Vermont.
Public facilities
The Champlain Memorial Library offers around 7,000 books and 3,000 audio books for loan.
