The Ligue 2 2005/06 was the 67th staging of the second highest French football league . The season began on July 29, 2005 and ended on May 12, 2006. Valenciennes FC became second division champions . The team managed to march through with the second promotion in a row from the third to Ligue 1 .
As relegated from Ligue 1 , SM Caen , SC Bastia and FC Istres were added, while FC Valenciennes and FC Sète rose from the third division .
