The Moritzdorfer village center lies along Moritzgasse between the federal highway 97 and the Kleine Röder . To the north of it extends the Laußnitzer Heide , a large forest area. history

Moritzdorf is the youngest of the village founded in the Ottendorf-Okrilla district. The landlord in the area was exercised by the owners of the manor in Seifersdorf . From around 1750, the area with the Eibisch forest and the Rink inn belonged to the Saxon Prime Minister Heinrich von Brühl . After his death, his son Moritz lived in Seifersdorf Castle and inherited the land. He had them divided into parcels and sold them. This is how a manor settlement was created that was initially known as the “New Annex near Ottendorf” and later “Kleinottendorf”. Karl von Brühl, son of Moritz von Brühl, finally obtained the official renaming in Moritzdorf from the Saxon king in 1824. An important local employer was the glassworks founded in the 19th century by the Hirsch glassmaking dynasty . The glassmaker Germanus Theiss also worked there in 1887/88 and was appointed foreman during this time.

The Moritzdorfer Flur covered only about six hectares in 1871. Parish was and is the place after Ottendorf. Administration in 1843 was the responsibility of the Dresden Office. In 1856 Moritzdorf then belonged to the Radeberg court office and then came to the Dresden administrative authority , from which the Dresden-Land district emerged . On the basis of the rural community code of 1838 , Moritzdorf achieved its independence as a rural community . With Ottendorf, Moritzdorf merged in 1911 to form the municipality of Ottendorf-Moritzdorf, which was joined by Cunnersdorf in 1920 and Kleinokrilla on April 1, 1921 . After the union with Großokrilla on July 1, 1921, the community was called Ottendorf-Okrilla. After the dissolution of the Dresden-Land district, the community came to the Kamenz district , which in turn was incorporated into the Bautzen district in 2008.
