Mumford & Sons is a British folk rock - band .

Band history

The band around singer and guitarist Marcus Mumford came together in 2007 in London and within a year gained so much popularity in the folk scene that they were allowed to perform at the Glastonbury Festival in 2008. She also released several EPs and was included in the BBC's list of hopefuls for 2009 ( BBC Sound of 2009 ).

With a contract with Island Records , they released their debut album Sigh No More in October 2009 , which was created with the support of producer Markus Dravs and first made it to number 7 in the UK charts. It developed into a long-running hit and reached its highest position over a year later with second place. The pre-release Little Lion Man and the second release Winter Winds were also chart hits.

Little Lion Man was voted “Hottest Track of 2009” with well over 800,000 votes at the Triple J's Hottest 100 Countdown in Australia, which is considered the largest music poll in the world. The single reached number 3 in the Australian charts and the debut album even number 1 . They were also nominated for Grammy Awards in the categories “Recording of the Year” and “Song of the Year” with the song The Cave . In 2011 they were awarded the European Border Breakers Award (EBBA).

In October 2012 they were represented with six songs on the Billboard Hot 100 , setting a record set by the Beatles in 1964 .

The second album Babel was released at the end of September 2012 in Germany, the UK, the USA and Canada, among others. At the Grammy Awards in 2013 was Babel as album of the year award.

Mumford & Sons won the BRIT Award in the British Group category in 2013 . At the Echo Awards 2013 they won in the group Rock / Pop International category . Her third album, Wilder Mind , was released on May 4th, 2015 . Together with the Senegalese singer Baaba Maal , The Very Best and Beatenberg they released the EP Johannesburg in June 2016 . Her fourth album Delta was released on November 16, 2018 .
