NGC 6811 is the name of an open star cluster in the constellation Swan . NGC 6811 has a diameter of 15 arc minutes and an apparent magnitude of 6.8 mag. It is around 4,000 light years away and measures around 15 light years in diameter . Its age is estimated to be 700 million years.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on August 29, 1829 .
