NGC 6814 is a barred spiral galaxy with an active galaxy core of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation of eagles in the northern sky . It is an estimated 75 million light years away from the Milky Way , has a disk diameter of about 65,000 ly, and is classified as a Seyfert galaxy .
The object was discovered on August 2, 1788 by the astronomer William Herschel with a 48 cm telescope.
