NGC 6798 = IC 1300 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Swan in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 115 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light-years across.
The astronomical object was discovered on October 2, 1891 by the American astronomer Lewis A. Swift . The galaxy NGC 6798 , also discovered by Lewis A. Swift on August 5, 1885, is identical to IC 1300 .
