The NS series 1300 is a former electric locomotive series of the Dutch NS railways , which was mainly used in heavy freight train service from 1952 to 2000 .
history
The locomotive, based on the French SNCF CC 7100 locomotive series, was manufactured by Alsthom in Belfort from 1952 . 16 copies were made by 1956. The first use was a special train on the occasion of the electrification of the line from Zwolle to Groningen , which the 1301 locomotive pulled shortly after its commissioning in 1952. With an output of 3,159 kW, the 1300 series locomotives were for a long time the most powerful vehicles on the Dutch railways and could be used in a variety of ways. With the acquisition of the 1600 and 1700 series in the 1980s, the 1300 series slowly lost its importance. In 2000, all locomotives were taken out of service and parked. With the exception of four specimens preserved in a museum, all locomotives were scrapped.
technology
When designing the NS 1300 series, Alsthom used tried-and-tested components from various other French railroad locomotive types, the basic concept being the same as that of the SNCF CC 7100 series . Three-axle bogies were used and a total of six traction motors were installed. In addition, the locomotives were adapted to the regulations of the Dutch Railways and equipped accordingly. In the course of due general inspections , all locomotives were adapted to the current yellow NS color scheme in the 1980s.
