Nabil El Zhar ( Arabic نبيل الزهر, DMG Nabīl az-Zahr ; * August 27, 1986 in Alès ) is a Moroccan football player who also has French nationality .

Career

society

The French-born Moroccan began his career in 1996 at Olympique Alès in the youth team. In 1999 he moved to the youth team of Nimes Olympique. from 2004-2006 he was at AS Saint-Etienne in the youth department. In 2006 El Zhar moved to Liverpool FC in England. Mostly used in the reserve team, the Moroccan made his Premier League debut on November 29, 2006 when he came on as a 71st-minute substitute for Portsmouth FC . Almost a year later, he scored his first goal for Liverpool on October 31, 2007 in the Carling Cup against Cardiff City .

On July 11, 2009, he signed a new contract until 2012.

For the 2010/11 season he was loaned for one year to the Greek Europa League participant PAOK Thessaloniki with an option for three more years.

National team

Internationally, he played four times for his native France in the U-18 team . In 2005, El Zhar played in the U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands for the Moroccan selection . He was one of the most conspicuous players in Morocco and made it to the semi-finals of the tournament with his team and ended up fourth.
