Guido Marcelo Carrillo (born May 25, 1991 in Magdalena , Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine football player who is under contract with the English first division club Southampton FC .

Career

Carrillo joined the first team of the Estudiantes de La Plata in 2011 from his own youth academy . He made his debut on June 2, 2011 in a 3-0 away win against Club Atlético Huracán in the first Argentine division . He scored his first competitive goal for the Pincharratas on February 25, 2012 in a 2-0 home win against CA Independiente . At the 2015 Copa Libertadores , Carrillo drew interest. He scored seven goals in ten games, including a hat trick in a 3-0 home win against Ecuador's Barcelona Sporting Club .

On July 3, 2015, Carrillo moved to the French first division club AS Monaco , where he signed a five-year contract. The transfer fee for the striker was EUR 8.8 million. He scored his first goal for the Monegasque in a 3-1 away win at Young Boys Bern in the third qualifying round of the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League . In the league, he only met four times in 31 missions. Only in the following season 2016/17 did his rate improve. In the first half of the season he scored seven league goals, but was then slowed down due to injuries and didn't hit a single time in the second half of the season. This season ended very successfully for his club, with the championship title and the semi-finals in the Champions League .

On January 25, 2018 Carrillo moved to the English Premier League , where he signed a 3½-year contract with FC Southampton . The transfer fee was named 22 million euros. He made his first appearance on January 27 in a 1-0 home win in the FA Cup game against Watford FC . In the second half of the season he was used in ten games in which he failed to score.

For the 2018/19 season he switched to the first Spanish division for CD Leganés in a loan shop . He scored his first goal on September 1 in a 4-1 defeat by Real Madrid . In 32 league games he scored six goals and returned to Southampton after the loan expired.

In the next 2019/20 season he also switched to CD Leganés on loan. After a disappointing season in which he only scored one goal and two assists in 24 league appearances, he returned to Southampton in the summer of 2020.
