Nadiya Yusupovna Dusanova ( Russian: Надия Дусанова , Nadija Jussopowna Dussanowa ; born November 17, 1987 in Tashkent , Uzbek SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Uzbek high jumper .

Athletic career

At the age of 19, Nadiya Dusanova took part in the 2006 Junior World Championships in Beijing , where she finished eleventh in the final. At the Junior Asian Championships in Macau she won the bronze medal and at the Indoor Asian Championships in Pattaya she finished fifth. In 2007 she qualified for the Asian Championships in Amman , where she finished sixth. In 2008 she took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing, but retired there with 1.85 m in qualification . Also in 2009 she could not qualify for the final at the World Championships in Berlin . At the Indoor Asian Games she won the gold medal with 1.93 m and at the Asian Championships in Guangzhou she won the silver medal with 1.90 m behind the Chinese Zheng Xingjuan .

In 2010 she qualified for the World Indoor Championships in Doha , where she finished seventh. At the Asian Games in Guangzhou, she won the silver medal behind her compatriot Svetlana Radzivil with 1.93 m. At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 she was eliminated again with 1.85 m in qualification . In 2013 she won the gold medal at the Asian Championships in Pune and thus qualified for the World Championships in Moscow , where she was eliminated again in the qualification with 1.88 m.

In 2014 she qualified again for the World Indoor Championships in Sopot , where she was eliminated this time with a 1.84 m qualification. At the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea , she won the bronze medal with 1.89 m. In 2016 she won the silver medal at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha and qualified again in the summer for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated with 1.92 m in the qualification . In 2017 she won the gold medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku and the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar . This gave her a bye for the World Championships in London, where she was eliminated with 1.85 m in qualification . At the beginning of September she won the gold medal at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat with a jump of 1.86 m. In 2018 she took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran and won the gold medal there with 1.87 minutes. At the end of August she won the silver medal at the Asian Games in Jakarta with 1.94 m; again behind her countrywoman Radzivil.

In 2019, she secured her third title at the Asian Championships in Doha with a skipped 1.90 m and thus received a bye for the World Championships , which took place there in October, where she was eliminated with only 1.80 m in qualification . Then she was at the Military World Games in Wuhan with 1.75 m fifth in the high jump and finished sixth in the triple jump with a width of 12.18 m.

In 2005, 2012 and 2017 Dusanova became Uzbek champion in the high jump and in 2017 also in the triple jump. In 2018 she also won the high jump indoor championship for the first time.

Personal

Nadiya Dusanova is a graduate of Information Technology and Management from Tashkent State University of Economics . In 2015 she gave birth to her first child and did not contest any competition that year. Her great sporting role model is the Uzbek gymnast Oksana Chusovitina . She holds the rank of junior sergeant in the Uzbek military .
