Napoleon stone
Napoleonstein (after Napoleon Bonaparte ) is a name for memorials to veterans and fallen soldiers of the Napoleonic wars, especially in the German areas on the left bank of the Rhine , which were ceded to France after the peace treaty of Campo Formio (1797). Many soldiers were recruited there for the Napoleonic Army , and the Napoleonic veteran cult was correspondingly large there later. Veteran societies of the former Napoleonic army were founded in numerous places and group and individual monuments were erected. Such are u. a .:
