Natalia Ivanovna Sadova

Natalja Iwanowna Sadowa ( Russian: Наталья Ивановна Садова , English transcription Natalya Sadova , née Koptjuch ; born June 15, 1972 in Gorki ) is a Russian discus thrower .

She won the gold medal in her discipline at the Athens Olympic Games . Three years earlier, at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton , she had also won the competition, but was disqualified in March 2005 because she was proven to have too high a caffeine level . Elina Swerawa then became world champion .

Because of a doping violation , Natalia Sadova was banned from participating in competitions by the International Athletics Federation IAAF for a period of two years (July 7, 2006 to July 6, 2008). In a doping test after a competition on May 28, 2006, the anabolic steroid Metandienone was shown to be too high .
