The 1987/88 season was the 66th season of the Nationale 1A , the highest French ice hockey division . Champion became the second time in the history of the Mont-Blanc HC . The Chamonix Hockey Club was relegated to the second division.

mode

The ten teams played 18 games each in the main round. The six best-placed teams qualified for the final round. The four best-placed teams in the final round qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played out. The four last placed in the main round had to compete in the relegation round, the last placed in the second division. The points from the main round were carried over to the relegation round. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
