The 1983/84 season was the 62nd season of Nationale A , the highest French ice hockey division . The Club des Sports de Megève became champions for the first time in the club's history . The Image Club d'Épinal had to withdraw from the league after the season for financial reasons.
mode
The twelve teams played 22 games each in the main round. The eight best-placed teams qualified for the final round, in which the champions were played. The points from the main round were carried over to the final round. The four last placed had to compete in the relegation against the three best second division teams. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
