National League A (chess) 2000

In the 2000 season of the Swiss National League A in chess , SG Biel defeated both of their competitors for the title, the defending champions SG Zurich and SG Winterthur, and became champions with a two-point lead. From the National League B were SG Riehen and Rossli Reinach ascended. While Riehen achieved relegation, Reinach and Genève Bois Gentil had to relegate directly. Promotion games to the National League A.

For the promotion games, the winner SV Wollishofen and the runner-up SK St. Gallen had qualified from the National League B East , from the National League B West the winner Club d'échecs de Genève and the Club d'échecs de Friborg in third place, as they did not Second team eligible for promotion from SG Biel had occupied second place. The promotion games between Wollishofen and Friborg as well as between Genève and St. Gallen took place with the relay winners and saw the hosts' 5½: 2½ victories, who were promoted to the National League A.
