National League A (chess) 2001
In the 2001 season of the Swiss National League A in chess , the defending champions SG Biel and SG Zürich fought head-to-head for first place. Only in the round was the decision in favor of the Bieler. From the National League B were SV Wollishofen and Club d'Echecs de Genève ascended. While Wollishofen achieved relegation, Geneva and SG Riehen were relegated directly. Promotion games to the National League A.
The winner SK St. Gallen and runner-up Nimzowitsch Zurich from the National League B East had qualified for the promotion games, while the winner from the National League B West was Sorab Basel and the second Rössli Reinach . The promotion games between St. Gallen and Reinach and between Basel and Zurich took place with the relay winners. In both competitions, the hosts, who were promoted to the National League A, were just able to prevail. Basel won 5: 3, St. Gallen retained the upper hand after a 4: 4 thanks to the better Berlin rating (21½: 14½).
