The National Parliament of Papua New Guinea ( National Parliament ) is the parliament in the unicameral system of Papua New Guinea . It is located in the capital, Port Moresby .
111 members of parliament are directly elected in 111 single-constituencies for five years each.
Parliament building
The old parliament building was a former hospital in Port Moresby and was used from 1964 by the House of Assembly of Papua and New Guinea , which became the national parliament of Papua New Guinea after independence in 1975.
The new parliament building was built in 1984 and opened by Prince Charles . The architecture and symbolism of the building are highly controversial, including for religious reasons.
