  • The Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna ( French Assemblée territoriale des îles Wallis et Futuna ) is the parliament and the legislature of the French overseas territory Wallis and Futuna . The President of the Territorial Assembly , currently David Vergé , is Prime Minister of Wallis and Futuna.

    tasks

    As the legislative power of Wallis and Futuna, the Territorial Assembly has the task of accepting or rejecting draft laws . These are introduced, for example, by the government under the President of the Territorial Assembly or by one of the eight committees . In addition, the President of the Territorial Assembly is elected by the Territorial Assembly.

    The office of the Territorial Assembly (resembling a government ) currently consists of the President of the Territorial Assembly David Vergé , the Vice-President of the Territorial Assembly Sosefo Motuku , the 1st Secretary Lavinia Tagane and the 2nd Secretary Yannick Feleu .

    Each of the five districts in Wallis and Futuna has a certain number of seats. The Kingdom of Uvea consists of 3 districts, while Sigave and Alo each consist of one district.

    Since the election of the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna in 2017 , the coalition has 11 seats and the opposition 9 seats. Only half of the MEPs belong to a political group . The members of the Territorial Assembly belong to different lists (similar to political parties) and are assigned to parliamentary groups. David Vergé and Frédéric Baudry are the only two MPs of French origin.
