The natural park Comana ( Romanian Parcul Natural Comana ) is a by the IUCN declared nature reserve guidelines in Romania and belongs to IUCN Category V .

The Comana Nature Park is located in the Giurgiu district , about 30 km south of Bucharest .
description
The Comana Natural Park was declared a nature reserve by government decree of November 30, 2004 published in the Romanian legal journal Monitor Official . On October 25, 2011, the nature park was included in the Wetlands International list, which was approved by the Ramsar Convention . This makes it one of the protected wetlands , also known as the Ramsar area . The nature park is supervised by rangers .
Flora and fauna
There are more than 200 different plant species in the park, 70 of which are threatened with extinction. The peonies and the stinging butcher's broom are strictly protected . The clover fern ( Marsilea quadrifolia ), the goat belt tongue ( Himantoglossum caprinum ) and Echium russicum are protected in the area of the Comana Nature Park .
Most of the animal species are birds and fish. A total of 141 different bird species can be found there , 71 of which are internationally protected. Of the 13 different fish species, there are also endemic species, such as B. the European dogfish and the European mud whip . Also amphibians and reptiles live in the wetlands .

The nature park is open to tourists and offers numerous leisure activities. The nature park can be explored on foot or by bike. The offer ranges from hiking routes and bike trips to canoe tours . In the nature park there is an adventure park called "Parc Aventura Comana" where you can climb . Every year during the flowering period in May is Festival of peonies organized.
history
In the natural park there is a historical monastery called Comana. The Comana Monastery (Romanian: Mănăstirea Comana) was originally founded and built in 1461 by Vlad the Impaler . After it completely fell into disrepair, it was rebuilt in 1589 by Radu Șerban , the prince of Wallachia .
