The Durbachtal nature reserve is a nature reserve in the Duhr area in the municipality of Kürten in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

In the uppermost valley section of the Durbach valley, a mosaic of undisturbed lawns and bulten - Großseggenried grows in a swelling hollow . The well-trained Seggenrieder are unique in their size and quality in this region of the Bergisch plateau . In a depression in the northwest of Oberduhr is a wet grassland complex of a tall herb inventory and a species-poor sedge Ried. A narrow meadow stream flows along the eastern edge. The Durbachtal nature reserve borders the Altenbachtal nature reserve to the south .

Vegetation and protection

The protected area was designated to maintain and restore a natural course of the brook, of species-rich wet and wet grassland, fallow land, poor meadows and a pronounced spring swamp. In detail, the following protective purposes were set:

  • Preservation and development of the extensively used, sometimes very species and structure-rich wet and humid grassland in the valley floor as well as sedges and rushes of the spring swamp,
  • Securing the function as a biotope network area ,
  • Preservation of the special character and outstanding beauty of the near-natural brook valley with a pronounced spring swamp.
