The Ölsiefental nature reserve is a nature reserve in the vicinity of Engeldorf and Offermannsheide in the municipality of Kürten in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

The nature reserve encompasses the areas of the Ölsiefen southeast of Engeldorf up to the confluence with the Sülz, including its accompanying semi -natural mixed deciduous forest in the slope areas and the northern spring basin.

Vegetation and protection

The protected area was designated for the maintenance and development of a near-natural habitat with grassland fallow, structurally rich deciduous forest and flowing water with a pronounced source area. In detail, the following protective purposes were set:

  • Preservation and securing of the protected biotopes : quarry , swamp and alluvial forests , wet meadows rich in sedges and rushes , spring areas and natural and near-natural areas of flowing and standing inland waters,
  • Preservation and development of the species and structure-rich near-natural sloping deciduous mixed forest stands with z. Some of the partially grown hornbeams are rich in coppice forest.
