The Loemühlenbachtal nature reserve is located in the area of the cities of Herten , Recklinghausen and Marl in North Rhine-Westphalia . It is named after the Loemühlenbach , which rises in Herten . It has the ID RE-048.

description

The 60.52 hectare large nature reserve is a distinct river valley. It is partly an alluvial landscape and partly anthropogenic . It is home to a variety of rare habitats, both nationally and regionally, with several endangered plant and animal species. It consists of the Loemühlenbach and several nameless tributaries that form on the water-impermeable "Recklinghauser sand marl" from rivulets through seepage water. Depending on the amount of precipitation, these are more or less pronounced. While the stream is initially very close to nature, it is even partially piped outside the nature reserve in Marl, at the historic Loemühle. An artificial pond is also dammed there by an inlet from the stream water.

The following biotope types can be found in the area:

  • Quellbach
  • small standing water
  • Pond
  • Disused wet and damp grassland
  • Wet and damp pasture
  • Wet and humid meadow
  • Reed stock
  • Grossseggenried
  • Alder break forest

The nature reserve is identified in the Emscher Landscape Park 2010 project under the number PL365HRT. Another ecological reconstruction of the stream is planned in order to promote natural development.
