Schmale Becke nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schmale Becke nature reserve is a 9.2 hectare nature reserve (NSG) in the town of Meinerzhagen in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2001 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 6 Meinerzhagen .

Area description

The NSG is the meadow valley of the Schmale Becke .

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated “for the maintenance, restoration and optimization of a mainly grassland-dominated low mountain range as a habitat for numerous endangered plant and animal communities”. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.

In the NSG it is forbidden to mow the grassland before June 15th.
