Lesmicker-Siepen nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lesmicker-Siepen nature reserve is a 6.36 hectare nature reserve (NSG) south-east of Meinerzhagen in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2001 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 6 Meinerzhagen .

Area description

The NSG is the meadow valley of the meandering Lesmicke with its floodplain . In the floodplain there is mostly forest and some grassland . Partly there is wet and damp grassland in the NSG. Some of the grassland has fallen fallow . There are also sources in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the conservation and development of the meadow valley and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.

For the NSG there is a special prohibition "to use the indigenous wet forest areas (alder swamp forest, brook-alder-ash forest, source area in beech forest) purely for forestry purposes".
