from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schleipe Valley nature reserve is a 5.01 hectare nature reserve north of Lengelscheid and west of the federal motorway 45 in the town of Meinerzhagen in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2001 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 6 Meinerzhagen . The NSG goes to the city limits and borders here at the in Kierspe lying, the same nature reserve .

Area description

The NSG is the meadow valley of the Schleipe including the source and the upper course with the floodplain . In the NSG there are areas with alder forest. Otherwise there is mostly grassland in the NSG. Some of the grassland has fallen fallow. Broad-leaved orchid stands on a wet meadow rich in sedge and pumice . Up to 50 pieces were counted. There are fish ponds in the NSG, some of which are not used.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the conservation and development of the meadow valley and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.

For the NSG there is a special prohibition "to use the indigenous wet forest areas (source area in the beech forest, alder swamp forest) purely for forestry purposes".
