Elmchebach valley nature reserve
The nature reserve Elmchebach-Tal is a 3.78 hectare nature reserve (NSG) east of the village Ebberg in the urban area of Meinerzhagen in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2001 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 6 Meinerzhagen .
Area description
The NSG is the meadow valley of the meandering Elmche with floodplain . There is grassland in the floodplain . Partly there is wet and damp grassland in the NSG. Some of the grassland has fallen fallow .
Protection purpose
The nature reserve was designated for the conservation and development of the meadow valley and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
