Holbecke nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Holbecke nature reserve is a 5.28 hectare nature reserve (NSG) northeast of the village of Hardenberg in the town of Meinerzhagen in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2001 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 6 Meinerzhagen . The Gleyer nature reserve is only separated from Kreisstraße 4 north of the NSG.

Area description

The NSG is a wet pasture and lean grassland with seepage source area of a side stream of the Holbecke on a slope that is evenly slightly sloping to the southeast. The NSG is interspersed with small trees and ditches. The center of the NSG is formed by an extensively grazed wet meadow in which countless specimens of the spotted orchid occur. In the drier area of the NSG there is a damp poor pasture in which a considerable population of arnica occurs. The nameless brook that runs through the grassland area is to be addressed in the lower area on shorter sections as a natural brook, while the upper arms are mostly built as straightened trenches. There are three smaller ponds in the course of the stream.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the preservation and development of the wet pasture and poor pasture there and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
