Versetal nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Versetal nature reserve is a 5.01 hectare nature reserve (NSG) located about 200 m northeast below the dam of the Fürwiggetalsperre in the town of Meinerzhagen in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2001 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 6 Meinerzhagen . The NSG goes up to the city limits. In the town of Lüdenscheid , the Versetal nature reserve borders directly south of the dam .

Area description

The NSG is the meadow valley of the verses with their floodplain . The first meadow from the direction of the dam is a serpentine knotweed wet meadow. A wet black alder forest follows . Afterwards a large fallow area rich in tall shrubs and rushes with fallow wet grassland. Another black alder forest and a fresh oat meadow follow . The NSG is one of the main areas of distribution of the monkshood buttercup .

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the conservation and development of the meadow valley and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.

For the NSG there is a special prohibition "to use the indigenous wet forest areas (alder swamp forest) purely for forestry purposes".
