The nature reserve Suden bei Gorden is a nature reserve in the Elbe-Elster district in southern Brandenburg . The approximately 90 hectare area extends 1.5 kilometers northeast of Gorden in the Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft nature park , which covers an area of ​​484 km². It was placed under nature protection as early as 1961 and is mainly characterized by its natural population of spruce . There are also occurrences of the silver fir, which are very rare in these latitudes, as well as the gentian .

Protection purpose of the nature reserve

"The protection purpose consists in the preservation and development of the near-natural spruce-pine forests on the northern border of their distribution in Lower Lusatia , which are of outstanding importance as the autochthonous occurrence of the Lusatian lowland spruce ."
