It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1998 with the Arnsberg landscape plan. The NSG consists of two sub-areas, the smaller of which is only 0.5 hectares in size.

Area description

In the NSG it concerns the stream valleys of Wollbergsiepen and Kuhpfadsiepen .

Protection purpose

The NSG is intended to protect two near-natural stream valleys with species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
