from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The upper reaches of the Meimkebach nature reserve, with a size of 7.5  hectares, is located north of Oeventrop in the urban area of Arnsberg in the Hochsauerland district . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1998 with the Arnsberg landscape plan. The Breitenbruch-Neuhaus nature reserve borders directly to the east . The NSG belongs to the 7,991 ha FFH area Arnsberg Forest (DE-4514-302).

Area description

In the NSG it concerns the upper reaches of the Meimkebach and its tributaries. The brooks and the floodplain belong to the NSG. The floodplain is usually planted with alders.

Protection purpose

The NSG should protect the Bachtal with species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
