Career
society
Ateş began his career in the 1997/98 season at Altay İzmir . He made his debut on January 18, 1998 against Bursaspor . Ateş was substituted on in the 53rd minute of the game. His first goal in the Süper Lig he scored in the same season against Samsunspor on March 23, 1998. The second half of the 1999/2000 season played the striker on loan for Aydınspor . In the summer of 2001, Ateş moved to Adanaspor .
In his first season for Adanaspor, he scored 17 goals in 32 games. Ateş confirmed his performance in the next season, he was with 18 goals in the 2002/03 season the second top scorer in the Süper Lig. Galatasaray Istanbul signed the striker during the winter break of the 2003/04 season. At Galatasaray he celebrated his first title by winning the Turkish Cup. In the final against Fenerbahçe Istanbul , Ateş scored 2-0, the game ended 5-1. In the 2005/06 season he was Turkish champion for the first time at Galatasaray Istanbul. He himself was the most successful goalscorer and top performer of his team that season with his 18 goals. In 2006/07 Galatasaray finished third. Galatasaray signed Karl-Heinz Feldkamp as coach in the summer of 2007 and Necati Ateş's time at Galatasaray Istanbul was up.
Feldkamp planned without the striker. Ateş played on loan for Ankaraspor and Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor in 2007/08 . The 2008/09 season he also received no place in the team under Michael Skibbe and changed the team again on loan. He went to Spain for the second division Real Sociedad . Ateş returned to Turkey at the end of the season. Necati Ateş left Galatasaray for good and signed with league rivals Medical Park Antalyaspor .
Ateş played for Antalyaspor for two and a half years. The striker returned to Galatasaray Istanbul on February 1, 2012 . He received a contract until the end of the season and was extended by two years during the summer break.
After half a season, Ateş moved to league rivals Eskişehirspor before the transfer was closed due to the large number of strikers in the team . In his first season for Eskişehirspor he would be used by head coach Ersun Yanal in the regular formation and quickly became a top performer. He ended the season with twelve goals this season as the club's most successful goalscorer. In the 2013/14 season he lost his regular place under the new head coach Ertuğrul Sağlam . Sağlam used Ateş in almost all competitive matches, but only in 16 of these games from the start. With his club he reached the final of the Turkish Cup , but lost here with his team to his former club Galatasaray with 0: 1. After his club had not paid several salary payments to Ateş, the latter drew a contractual clause and unilaterally terminated his ongoing contract. His club claimed the opposite and announced legal consequences.
For the 2014/15 season, Ateş hired first division club Kayseri Erciyesspor and signed a two-year contract here.
In the summer of 2015, Karşıyaka SK hired the second division club and returned to his hometown of Izmir after 14 years . On September 9, 2016, Ateş announced the end of his career.

In the same year he also made his debut for the Turkish U-21 national team .
In 2002, the nomination for the second selection of the Turkish national team , the so-called Turkish A2 national team, followed.
