Bridge of Neckartalstraße over the Neckar between Sontheim and Horkheim

The Neckartalstraße is a road construction in the city and district of Heilbronn in Baden-Wuerttemberg . The road connects the motorway junction Heilbronn / Untereisesheim of the federal motorway 6 with the federal road 27 (Heilbronn – Ludwigsburg) in the Heilbronn district of Sontheim .

history

The construction of the Neckartalstraße, which follows the Neckar valley over its entire course , began in 1969 and was completed in several construction phases until 1989. Starting with the bypass of Obereisesheim in the north and the subsequent underpassing of the Neckar valley bridge to the confluence with the B 27 in Sontheim in the south, the road is an almost straight bypass route to traditional traffic routes through Heilbronn city center over a length of around 9 km.

Their bypassing was made possible by the construction of the Neckartalstraße bridge near Sontheim from 1985 to 1988, with which the Neckartalstraße, which otherwise runs west of the Neckar, crosses the river in a sweeping curve to get to the B 27, which runs from Heilbronn to Lauffen am Neckar east of the river . Neckartalstrasse was inaugurated on May 30, 1989. In 1992, a connection was created near Böckingen via the Otto-Konz bridge to Karlsruher Strasse , that is to the B 293 (Heilbronn – Karlsruhe). In 1996 the Böckinger Bridge was added. The street should make a significant contribution to relieving the traffic through Heilbronn city center. In 2000, up to 50,000 vehicles drove on Neckartalstrasse every day.

From various quarters, the further expansion of the part of the L 1100 to Bad Wimpfen to the north of the Neckartalstrasse to the bypass road is occasionally requested in order to relieve traffic for Untereisesheim and, at best, Bad Wimpfen as well.
