Nenad Krstić ( Cyrillic Ненад Крстић ; born July 25, 1983 in Kraljevo , Yugoslavia ) is a former Serbian basketball player who played for many years in the North American National Basketball Association (NBA). He then moved to other European countries and was active there until 2016.

societies

Krstić's first professional club was the KK Partizan Belgrade , which plays in the Serbian League, the Adriatic League and the EuroLeague. After two years with the Serbs, Krstić moved to the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the New Jersey Nets . There he was appointed to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team , although he already had experience as a professional player .

In the summer of 2008 he returned to Europe and moved to Triumph Lyubertsy in Russia. However, this remained a short interlude, he soon returned to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA. On February 24, 2011 he was transferred to the Boston Celtics along with Jeff Green in exchange for Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson .

For the 2011/12 season Nenad Krstić moved to PBK ZSKA Moscow . There he signed a two-year contract. With ZSKA he won the VTB United League three times in a row (2012-2014) and reached the final of the Euroleague in 2012.

National team

Krstić made his debut for the national team at the 2004 Olympics in Athens . As favorites, the Serbs were eliminated from the tournament in the group stage. Things didn't look any better at the 2005 European Basketball Championships in their own country: With the Serbian national team, which were considered the favorites of the tournament, he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against France 71:74.

Much more successful for him was the European Championship , in which Serbia reached the final. At the 2010 World Cup , Serbia reached the semi-finals, but due to a fight in the final of the 2010 Acropolis tournament , Krstić was suspended by FIBA for the first three World Cup games.

At the 2014 World Basketball Championship , Krstić was runner-up with Serbia after losing to the USA in the final.
