Warszkówko (German name Neu Warschow ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship and belongs to the rural community Sławno ( Schlawe ) in the Sławno district .

Geographical location

The farming village Warszkówko is located six kilometers east of Sławno between the Polish state road 6 (former German Reichsstrasse 2 and today also European route 28 ) Gdansk - Stettin and the voivodship road 209 Sławno– Bytów ( Bütow ) in a flat, unwooded landscape. The altitude is 40 meters above sea level.

The nearest railway stations for Warszkówko are Sławno and Wrześnica ( Freest ) on the Polish State Railway Line 202 Danzig - Stargard (Pomerania) .

Warszkówko is surrounded by the neighboring towns of Warszkowo ( Old Warschow ) in the west, Wrześnica ( Freest ) in the north and Tychowo ( Groß Tychow ) in the south and east.

Place name

The German name Neu Warschow emerged after the spin-off from the municipality of Warschow, which was then given the name Alt Warschow (Warszkowo).

history

The Neu Warschow settlement was probably created in connection with the settlement of the farmyard belonging to the town of Schlawe at the beginning of the 19th century. In 1864 there were 334 inhabitants in what was then 251 hectares, and in 1939 there were 250 (in 65 households) with an area of ​​276 hectares. The farmsteads are located on both sides of the village street, which is connected by a short stretch to the 209 voivodship street . The windmill once stood in the southeast , and before 1945 there were still two dismantles on the overland route to Planheide (Rozłęka).

Until 1945, New Warschow belonged to the Alt Schlawe (Sławsko) office, the Warschow registry office and the Schlawe district court . It was in the district of Schlawe i. Pom. in the administrative district of Köslin in the Prussian province of Pomerania . The last mayor was Karl Gülzow .

After the occupation by Russian troops on March 7, 1945, the German families were driven from their farms in 1946 and 1947 . New Warschow became the Polish village Warszkówko, which today is part of Gmina Sławno in the Powiat Sławieński of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship ( Stolp Voivodeship until 1998 ).
