Surname

The name “Neulehn” is derived from the land allocation to four farmers with a brewery by the Auerbach territorial lords as a new fiefdom .

history

The founding in the middle of the 16th century could be documented. On October 24, 1525, the rule of Auerbach , which included the town of Auerbach and around 15 localities, became the property of the von der Planitz family . Ten years later, Hans Edler von der Planitz died , and the area was taken over by Balthasar Friedrich von der Planitz , Hans von der Planitz's son, together with the Göltzsch rulership . In 1542, the three sons of Hans von der Planitz divided into the Auerbach domain. Balthasar Friedrich received the rule of Göltzsch. To it belonged Rothenkirchen and the area so rich in high forests, extending up to the Zwickauer Mulde . Over time it came to settlement in this wilderness. The "Planitzen", as the people living there were called, penetrated into the forests, made them arable (a section of the valley is still called "die Reuth" - from clearing -) and initially built four farms at the foot of the Kuhberg. In the letter of exemption of January 20, 1546, Balthasar Friedrich granted the courts certain rights, including the right to brew, and recognized them as an orderly village community in Stützengrün, which he promised to protect. Thus Neulehn was the first settlement in this area. In 1563 the place came together with Schönheide and Neustädtel into the property of the Saxon Elector August and thus became part of the administrative district Schwarzenberg . In 1687 the letter of exemption from 1546 was renewed by Elector Johann Georg III. This letter confirmed ancient rights and freedoms.

Since the beginning of the 20th century there have been efforts to unite the two independent villages. But it was not until July 1, 1950 that the municipality of Oberstützengrün merged with Neulehn and the municipality of Unterstützengrün to form the new municipality of Stützengrün.

Economy and Infrastructure

Brush factory in Neulehn

economy

In the beginning the area was dominated by agriculture, but in the 19th century it developed into an economic factor with the brush industry, initially working from home. The brush and paintbrush production in Schönheide originated in 1906 during the great strike of the brush workers from 1906 to 1907 as part of the former consumer association. The red brick building of the brush factory has shaped the townscape since 1925. During the GDR era, the plant was one of the largest factories in the western Ore Mountains. In 1964 the number of employees was 1044. They were driven to work from the surrounding villages in a company bus labeled “Bürstenmann”. The operation had a combine character. Other brush manufacturing companies sprang up in the area. The brush factory was converted into a GmbH after 1990 and has been called "Bürstenmann GmbH" since 1997. The sole shareholder is Zentralkonsum eG. New buildings were erected in 2005, 2011 and 2012. The range includes 1,600 items for household, dental care and home improvement needs. The products are regularly exhibited at trade fairs.

After 1990, the "Erzgebirge Adventure World" was created in the former CG Tippner brewery, a year-round sales exhibition for products of the Erzgebirge craftsmanship with mainly Christmas motifs.

The primary school for Stützengrün, its districts Hundshübel and Lichtenau and Schönheide are located in Neulehn . A school already existed in Neulehn in the 19th century. It was built in 1843.

traffic

From Schönheide, the state road 277 leads through Neulehn towards Oberstützengrün. The mountain road leads to Unterstützengrün.

With the construction of the Wilkau-Haßlau-Carlsfeld narrow-gauge railway in 1893, the area was also connected to the railway network. Coming from Rothenkirchen, the train circumnavigated the Kuhberg. In the area around Neulehn, the valleys had to be overcome with elaborate engineering structures. The small and large Stützengrüner Viaducts became famous not only among railway enthusiasts. In 1975 the Rothenkirchen – Schönheide Süd section was closed. After the steel structures were dismantled, only the bridge abutments remained from these structures. On January 2, 1931, the “Stützengrün Hp” stop was opened for rush-hour traffic on the premises of the brush factory. On a section of the former railway line, Schönheide began operating a museum railway in 1993, and with the construction of the terminal stop, a memorial was placed on the first settlement point. The breakpoint is called "Stützengrün-Neulehn" and is located on Schulstrasse. It opened on November 16, 2001. Apart from a platform with a platform edge made of old sleepers and a station sign, there are no other systems. There were plans to expand the museum railway to Wernesgrün. Several diploma theses on possibilities of routing dealt with this topic. These were presented at the 20th station festival on June 18 and 19, 2016 in Schönheide station.

The international mountain hiking trail of friendship between Eisenach and Budapest leads through Neulehn, coming from Kuhberg and turning in the direction of Unterstützengrün.
