course

Route 8 branches off in the southwest of Fredericton from Route 2 , the Trans-Canada Highway, in a northeastern direction. It bypasses the city center in the southwest and crosses the Saint John River . From there the route runs parallel to the Nashwaak River as far as Nashwaak Bridge , the river turns from there to the northwest, the route continues in a northeast direction. In Boiestown she meets the Southwest Miramichi River , whose valley she continues to follow. Shortly before the confluence of the Northwest Miramichi River and the Southwest Miramichi River, the route crosses the Northwest Miramichi River, then twice the newly formed Miramichi River . It then leads in a north-westerly direction directly to Bathurst , thus bypassing the Acadian Peninsula , which is accessed by Route 11 . South of Bathurst, Route 8 joins Route 11 and ends there.
