The New Bulgarian University ( Bulgarian and officially: Нов български университет / Now balgarski uniwersitet, briefly НБУ / NBU) is a university in the Bulgarian capital Sofia with around 7,500 students.

The university is located in the Ovtscha kupel district and was founded on September 18, 1991 by intellectuals with the intention of modernizing post-communist Bulgarian studies. The current rector is the anthropologist Plamen Botschkow.
