Nexus is a Canadian - US border control procedure that makes it easier for verified and registered travelers from the two countries to cross the border.

Participants in the Nexus program are Canadian, US and Mexican nationals, as well as persons with permanent residence permits in the US or Canada who have already crossed borders using the normal procedure and have been checked by security authorities in both countries. An ID can be requested for this. When entering the USA or Canada, the Nexus ID replaces the passport. The ID can be read electronically .

Travelers in possession of a Nexus pass can go through accelerated security checks at certain airports and carry out personal checks at border control machines themselves, use separate lanes at border crossings with a car and register by phone when crossing the border by ship.
