Nicola Renzi (born July 18, 1979 in San Marino ) is a politician from San Marino . Together with Lorella Stefanelli , he was elected Capitano Reggente , the head of state of San Marino, for the period from October 1, 2015 to April 1, 2016 . Since December 2016 he has been Minister of Foreign Affairs and Justice of San Marino.

Renzi graduated from the University of Bologna in 2004 with a thesis on Roman history. He then specialized in archeology. He received his PhD in history from the University of San Marino in 2013 with a thesis on Seneca . Since 2003 Renzi has been teaching Latin and Greek at the high school in San Marino.

Renzi is a member of the Alleanza Popolare (AP). In 2008 he became editor of Il Cantiere , the newspaper of the AP youth party. In 2011 he was elected as press spokesman for the AP and in 2013 as successor to Stefano Palmieri as coordinator of the AP.

Renzi reached fifth place on the list of Alleanza Popolare, who won four seats in the parliamentary elections in 2012, but moved up for Minister Matteo Fiorini , whose mandate is suspended during his cabinet membership. He is a member of the Health Committee and represented Valeria Ciavatta in 2014 during her tenure as Capitano Reggente on the Justice Committee. In May 2014 he replaced Antonella Mularoni as a member of the San Marinese group in the Inter-Parliamentary Union . After Antonella Mularoni's resignation in August 2016, she resumed her seat in parliament and Nicola Renzi left the Consiglio Grande e Generale.

Before the new elections in November 2016, Renzi's party, the AP, merged with the Unione per la Repubblica (UpR) to form Repubblica Futura (RF). RF joined Civico 10 and the newly founded Unione per la Repubblica (SSD) as the coalition adesso.sm . In the runoff election on December 4, 2016, adesso.sm received an absolute majority of the seats., Nicola Renzi took first place on the list of the RF and entered parliament again. On December 27, 2016, the new cabinet was elected by the Consiglio Grande e Generale, and Nicola Renzi became Minister of Foreign Affairs and Justice (Segretario di Stato agli Affari Esteri, Affari Politici e Giustizia) .

Renzi is married, has a son and lives in Borgo Maggiore .
