Nicolas Jean René Brouwet (born August 31, 1962 in Suresnes , Hauts-de-Seine department ) is a French clergyman and bishop of Tarbes and Lourdes .

Life

Nicolas Brouwet initially studied history at the Sorbonne and from 1984 to 1992 theology and philosophy at the French Pontifical Seminary . From 1986 to 1988 he worked with DCC (Délégation catholique à la coopération) and was a teacher in the seminary of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem in Beit Jala . He was ordained a priest on June 27, 1992 and deepened his studies at the Gregorian . At the Roman Lateran University he completed a theological degree with a focus on marriage and family. In 1993 he became pastor and director of the pastoral care office for public education in Bourg-la-Reine and chaplain of the Université Paris-Sud . In 1999 he moved to the parish of Saint-Romain and Notre-Dame-des-Bruyères in Sèvres . From 2001 to 2006 he was Dean of Chaville –Sèvres– Ville d'Avray and from 2006 to 2008 parish priest of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Jacques in Neuilly-sur-Seine .

On April 11, 2008 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . the titular bishop of Simidicca and auxiliary bishop in Nanterre . The bishop of Nanterre, Gérard Daucourt , ordained him episcopal on June 29th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Olivier de Berranger , Bishop of Saint-Denis , and Pascal Marie Roland , Bishop of Moulins . His motto Spiritu ambulemus (“We want to follow the Spirit”) comes from Galatians ( Gal 5.25  EU ). Since April 2011 he has been chairman of the working group "Church and Internet" of the Bishops' Conference of France .

Benedict XVI. appointed him Bishop of Tarbes and Lourdes on February 11, 2012.

Brouwet is a member of the Johannesgemeinschaft founded by the theologian Hans Urs von Balthasar .
