Nicolas Zimmer (born June 14, 1970 in Berlin ) is chairman of the board of the Technologiestiftung Berlin , a start-up founder and a former German politician ( CDU ). From 1998 to 2011 he was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives and then State Secretary in the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Research until November 2012 .

Life

Nicolas Zimmer graduated from high school in 1989 . From 1989 to 1996 he studied law at the Free University of Berlin with the first state examination in law. In 1996/97 he was personal assistant to the Senator for Economics and Businesses, Elmar Pieroth , and from August 1997 to 2000 legal trainee at the Berlin Court District. Zimmer later also studied computer science at the University of Hagen . From 2000 until his appointment as State Secretary he worked as a lawyer .

Since January 1, 2013, he has been Chairman of the Board of the Technologiestiftung Berlin. At the beginning of November 2013, a publishing platform he founded and developed went online.

Nicolas Zimmer joined the CDU in 1988 and had several functions in the Junge Union and within the CDU. From 2005 to 2007 he was chairman of the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district association .

From 1992 to 1998 he was a member of the Tempelhof District Assembly and in the last two years he was also a member of the parliamentary committee.

Nicolas Zimmer was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from February 1998 to December 13, 2011. For his parliamentary group, he assumed the role of spokesman for science policy. From 1998 to May 2003 he was the parliamentary manager and from 2003 to 2006 that of the chairman of the CDU parliamentary group.

In parliament he was a member of the Committee for Science and Research and represented in the Committee for European and Federal Affairs, Media, Berlin-Brandenburg. In 2011 he was chairman of the Hogowe Committee of Inquiry .

Since December 14, 2011, he has been State Secretary in the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Research, led initially by Sybille von Obernitz and later by Cornelia Yzer . On November 30, 2012, Zimmer announced that he would voluntarily resign from the office of State Secretary.

On December 18, 2012, he was appointed by the Board of Trustees as the new CEO of TSB.
