Niina Jyrkiäinen (born February 22, 1975 in Gothenburg ) is a former Finnish biathlete .

Niina Jyrkiäinen works as a physiotherapist and lives in Tampere . She started biathlon in 1987 and started for Kauhajoen Karhu . In 1999 she first took part in races in the biathlon world cup in Ruhpolding . In her first sprint she finished 86th, with the relay she was fourth on the side of Katja Holanti , Outi Kettunen and Annukka Mallat . Shortly afterwards she took part in the biathlon world championships for the first time in Kontiolahti . In the sprint, she was able to qualify as 37th for the pursuit race, in which she finished 43rd. In Östersundthe Finnish woman won her first World Cup points as 24th in a pursuit race towards the end of the following season . In doing so, she had improved by 26 places from 50th place in the sprint, which was decisive for the pursuit qualification. At the last World Cup before the Biathlon World Championships in 2001 in Antholz , Jyrkiäinen took 17th place in the sprint and thus achieved her best result in a World Cup race. At the World Championships in Pokljuka she was 58th of the individual, 69th of the sprint and 12th of the relay race with Holanti, Sanna-Leena Perunka and Eija Salonen . For the third and last time she started in 2003 in Khanty-Mansiysk at a world championship. After the World Cup, she only took part in international races once, in 2005 for two races in the European Cup. In Gurnigel she was third in both a sprint and a pursuit behind Irina Malgina and Christelle Gros .

Nationally, Jyrkiäinen won the title of Finnish individual champion in 1998 .
