Knes Nikolai Iwanowitsch Wassiltschikow ( Russian : Николай Иванович Васильчиков; * March 23, March 12, July / March 23,  1792 greg. In Moscow ; † January 15, July / January 27,  1855 greg  .; Ibid.) Was a Russian boyar , Major General in the Imperial Russian Army , Marshal von Serpuchow and large landowner (Lopasnya-Zachatievskoye family estate (now a museum)) in the Russian Empire .

Life

At the age of 15, Nikolai Ivanovich moved, with the consent of his father, to his relative, Brigadier General Vasily Alexejewitsch Wassiltschikow (1754-1830). Through his influence, he was admitted to the cavalry guard regiment in 1807 with the rank of ensign . In 1808 he was promoted to ensign in January and then to cornet in November .

He experienced his first military service in the Patriotic War of 1812-1814 , in which he was also used in the Battle of Borodino . For his bravery he was awarded high Russian and foreign medals . His career continued rapidly, he was in 1813 for lieutenant and Staff Captain and 1816 for Captain transported. In 1818 he was appointed squadron commander and in 1819 promoted to colonel . In 1820 he took over as commanding officer in command of the Cuirassier - Regiment in Novgorod . For the material and personal restructuring of the Russian cuirassier regiments in Yekaterionslav and Novgorod, he received a letter of thanks from the tsar and was awarded the “Highest Favor of His Imperial Majesty”. With the rank of major general, he retired on February 27, 1824 with the privilege of “pension and uniform wearing”. He chose his retirement home on his estate in Chekhov , a city in Moscow Oblast . He was elected aristocratic marshal three times for the Serpukhov district. Nikolai Ivanovich Wassilchikow died in 1855 and was buried in the Anno Zachatievsky Church near Chekhov.

Origin and family

NI Wassiltschikow came from the primeval boyar family Wassiltschikow , who had been elevated to the rank of Russian prince in 1839 . His father was the chamberlain Ivan Nikolajewitsch Wassiltschikow (1727–1787), who was married to Fyedosia Nikolajewna Krotkowa. His cousin was Alexander Semjonowitsch Wassiltschikow (1746–1813) who had a relationship with Empress Catherine II , his cousins ​​were Alexei Wassiljewitsch Wassiltschikow (1776–1854), Wassili Alexejewitsch Wassiltschikow (1754–1830) and Nikolai Wassiljewitsch Wassiltschikow (1781–1849) (1781–1849) . He married Maria Petrovna Lanski († 1879), the daughter of his long-time friend Pyotr Petrovich Lanski , her descendants were the daughters Maria (1820–1907), Katharina (1828–1875), Natalja (1831–1873), Anna (1835–1904 ) and Elisabeth († 1894). Her son Nikolai Nikolajewitsch (1822–1905) was not married, as a result of which this branch of the family died out.
