Nikolai Marzenko , also Nicolay Martsenko ( Russian: Николай Марценко ; born May 25, 1993 in Krasnoyarsk ) is a Russian automobile racing driver . He competed in Formula Renault 3.5 from 2012 to 2014 .

Career

Marzenko began his motorsport career at the age of eleven in Russian amateur touring car racing . In 2008 he finished fourth in the Lada Cup in his hometown of Krasnoyarsk. In 2009 he switched to the single-seater racing and entered European 3 Formula serials on. He won one race each and was fifth in the Northern European and fourth in the Finnish Formula 3 championship . He also made his debut in the German Formula 3 Cup for Jenichen Motorsport in 2009 . He took part in four races and remained without points.

In 2010 Marzenko competed for the Max Travin Racing Team for the entire season of the German Formula 3 Cup. With an eighth place as the best result, he scored one point and was 18th in the drivers' championship. In 2011 Marzenko stayed with the Max Travin Racing Team in the German Formula 3 Cup. With a fourth place as the best result, he finished the season on the twelfth championship place.

In 2012 Marzenko switched to Formula Renault 3.5 . After the Max Travin Racing Team had not received a starting place there, he signed a contract with BVM Target . Fifth place at the season opener was his best result. Marzenko finished the season in 20th place overall. In 2013 Marzenko completed his second season in Formula Renault 3.5 for Pons Racing . With a sixth place as the best result, he was again 20th in the driving classification. With 20 to 8 points he prevailed internally against Zoël Amberg . In 2014 , Marzenko switched to Comtec Racing within the Formula Renault 3.5 . In Alcañiz he achieved his first podium finish with a second place. After this event, he was in fifth place overall. Nevertheless, he lost his cockpit after the race weekend due to financial problems with his sponsors. In the further course of the season he was used at two events of the GP3 series for Hilmer Motorsport .
