Suşehri is a city and capital of the district of the same name ( İlçe ) in the Central Anatolian province of Sivas . The city is located about 130 kilometers by road (as the crow flies: 105 km) northeast of the provincial capital Sivas . The highways D865 (Giresun-Zara) and D100 (Amasya-Erzincan), part of the E 80 , cross near Suşehri . The place was raised to a municipality ( Belediye ) in 1874 and was the third largest city in the province in 2018.
The district Suşehri is located in the north of the province, bordering the county Koyulhisar in the West, the circle Zara in the southwest, the circle Akıncılar in the southeast and the circle Imranli in the south. In the northeast, the Giresun province forms the border.
In addition to the district town, the district consists of 71 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 155 inhabitants. The population numbers range from 664 ( Çataloluk ) down to 21 ( Küçükgüzel ), 29 villages have more residents than the average (155). The population density is above the provincial value, the urban population is 57.08 percent.
Antiquity
The small Armenian capital Nicopolis in Armenia is assumed to be near the present-day city of Suşehri.
