Norbert Schwientek

Norbert Schwientek (born March 6, 1942 in Oppeln , † June 22, 2011 in Kandern ) was a German actor .

Life

The older brother of the actor Siggi Schwientek first completed an apprenticeship as a banker. From 1964 to 1967 he studied acting at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts .

He started his first engagement in 1967 at the Theater of St. Gallen , from 1968 to 1970 he worked at the Zimmertheater Tübingen . From 1971 to 1975 he worked at the Theater am Neumarkt in Zurich , where he was seen, for example, in 1974 as Arnholm in Ibsen's Die Frau vom Meer .

1975 to 1978 an engagement at the Stadttheater Basel followed . Here he took over the title role of Molières Don Juan and embodied the village judge Adam in The Broken Jug . From 1978 to 1981 he worked at the Bremen Theater , where he appeared as Kreon in Antigone in 1979 and as Orgon in Tartuffe in 1981 .

In 1983 he played Lopachin in Der Kirschgarten at the Münchner Kammerspiele , in 1985 Theseus in Racine's Phaedra at the Schillertheater in Berlin. He has been a member of the Zurich Schauspielhaus ensemble since the mid-1980s . Here he embodied Sosias in Amphitryon and the fool in King Lear . In 1988 he directed August Strindberg's Fräulein Julie .

From 1989 to 1993, Schwientek appeared in major roles under the direction of Frank Baumbauer at the Theater of Basel, for example in 1990 as Wladimir in Warten auf Godot and in 1992/93 in the title role of Ibsen's master builder Solness (both directed by Werner Düggelin ). In 1991 he was voted Actor of the Year for the title role in Tankred Dorsts Korbes . In 2001/02 Schwientek played the title role in Sebastian Nübling's production of Ibsen's John Gabriel Borkman as a guest at the Basel Theater ; this production was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen .

From 1993 he continued to appear as a guest at the Theater Basel, the Schauspielhaus Zurich, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and the Staatstheater Stuttgart . From the 2001/2002 season he was a member of the Frankfurt Schauspiel ensemble . Most recently, Norbert Schwientek staged Heinrich von Kleist's Der Zerbrochne Krug at the Theater Kanton Zurich , where he played the village judge Adam.

Schwientek also took on roles in film and television since the late 1960s. For example, he embodied the journalist Pisk in the 1989 film Das Spinnennetz by Bernhard Wicki based on the novel of the same name by Joseph Roth , in 1993 he appeared as the lawyer Stüssi-Leupin in Hans W. Geißendörfer's film adaptation of Friedrich Dürrenmatt's novel Justice , played in 2001 he Joseph Roth in the three-part series Die Manns - A novel of the century . He had his last television appearance in 2009 in an episode of the crime series Bella Block .

Norbert Schwientek died on June 22, 2011 with his family.
