Nzuzi Bundebele Toko (born December 20, 1990 in Kinshasa ) is a Congolese - Swiss football player . He can be used both in defense and in midfield .
Career
Toko was born in Kinshasa, Congolese, and grew up in Switzerland. He completed his junior years with the Zurich club YF Juventus . In 2003 he moved to the youth division of the Grasshopper Club Zurich and in 2007 he was promoted to the U21 team. His potential was recognized after a short time and from then on he was also used in the Super League (top division in Switzerland).
In the 7-0 success of Grasshoppers over AC Bellinzona on November 7, 2009, Toko scored his first Super League goal. By May 2010 he made a total of 24 league appearances for the record champions.
Together with a few other young players, Toko is seen as a future hope for the Grasshoppers. Due to financial difficulties, the Grasshopper Club Zurich has been pursuing the goal of relying more on its own offspring for some time.
In the second half of the 2009/10 season, Toko has fought for a regular place in the Grasshoppers team.
After Toko had completed two international matches for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he announced on May 19, 2010 that he would not play for the Congolese, but for the Swiss national team. This decision was only of a temporary nature and so Toko decided back in 2011 to run for the Democratic Republic of the Congo again. That decision remained and Toko has so far played seven international matches for the African country. He scored a goal.
For the 2014/15 season, Toko moves to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Football League Championship , where he signed a contract until 2017. At Brighton, Toko was almost exclusively on the bench.
In January 2015 he moved to Eskişehirspor in the Turkish Süper Lig , succeeding his former coach Michael Skibbe .
For the 16/17 season Toko moved to the Swiss super-league club FC St. Gallen for two years . The expiring contract was then not renewed, although FC St. Gallen would have been interested in an extension of the contract.
