Oberamt Zell

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Oberamt Zell was an administrative and judicial district in the Electorate of Trier that existed from the beginning to the end of the 18th century . The offices of Baldeneck Office , Hasericher Care and the Office of Zell and Lötzbeuren were subordinate to him.

history

At the beginning of the 18th century, the high level of jurisdiction for the associated offices was concentrated in Zell . The position of bailiff was also increasingly performed by the bailiff in the Zell office. The last trustee Ludwig Wilhelm Joseph Freiherr von Boos zu Waldeck and Montford was Oberamtmann von Zell and Baldeneck.

The situation in Lötzbeuren was special: the place did not belong directly to Hasericher care. Since the Electorate of Trier serfs made up the vast majority of the population, Trier counted the village under his possession, but could not assert any further rights of rule. In addition, the population there was Protestant.

In 1780 there was an extensive exchange of territory. Kurtrier received the bailiwick of Senheim and the three rulers (Kurtrier, Pfalz-Zweibrücken, Metternich) places and a part of the Baldenecker Burgfriedens. In 1784, Haserische Pflege and Hesseweiler were added. In return, Kurtrier gave Dommershausen and Eveshausen to Metternich-Winneburg-Beilstein and Buch, Mörsdorf, Mörz and Uhler to Pfalz-Zweibrücken. In 1780 the office of Baldeneck was abolished and the offices were assigned to the office of Zell. The Oberamt was thus directly responsible for the official locations.

With the capture of the Left Bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops , the office was dissolved after 1794. In the French era , the area belonged to the canton of Zell .

Official seat

The bailiff had his seat in the former Kurtrier castle house in Zell. This building was built in 1532 and is a three-storey half-timbered / solid construction. The stairs are marked with the year of construction 1532, on the Moselle side a three-storey solid building was added in the 16th century. The building at Balduinstrasse 37 is a listed building .
